		<description>But the point was that the whole idea behind a government run by the people is that the people need to know what&#039;s going on.  The institutes that do the best job of that are starting to fail.  As the newspapers, our most prolific original source of information, figure out how to fix their business models, we the people need to support them so they don&#039;t go under.

Yes, we do have power over the government.  We can vote the bums out, provided we know who are bums and who aren&#039;t.</description>

		<description>While I agree that anything worth owning costs some measure of my life, I have to disagree that there&#039;s anything citizens can do to &quot;check&quot; the government apart from ignoring it, disobeying it, or making too little income to be taxed by it. It may be useful to be aware of the latest state mandates, but the only legal response is to hope a politician will answer to you in mitigating the mandate.</description>
